If you have been trying to buy or sell your diamond ring in Charlotte, NC, I'm sure you have found many different price points. It's almost impossible to find the true value of your lose diamonds or engagement rings. The aftermarket on diamonds is a lot like trying to sell a used car. Only with a used car you can always market it and sell it yourself. When it comes to diamond the value is often determined by supply and demand. We cannot offer you the retail of your particular piece, but we will be honest and fair in our appraisal.

The 4 C's of Diamonds

Cut, Color, Clarity, and Carat. These are the most important factors in diamond value:
What You Need to Know About Diamonds:

  1. The Cut is most important. A bad cut can undermine the facing and brilliance of an otherwise good stone. A bad cut can leave a diamond lifeless without the proper fire and brilliance. Even with perfect color and clarity a poor cut can leave a diamond looking lifeless and dull.
  2. The Color is next. Color actually refers to lack of color. The less color the better. This one is really simple. Grades go from D (colorless) to Z (yellow).
  3. The Clarity comes next. Clarity refers to the amount of blemishes and inclusions. The smaller blemishes and inclusions do not affect the value as much as the larger ones. Especially if they are visible in the crown or top center of the stone. All diamonds are imperfect. Value comes from having only microscopic blemishes and inclusions.
  4. The next is Carat. This term actually refers to the total weight of the diamond. It is commonly thought a term referring to size. A bad cut can make a diamond seem smaller than it is actually.

If all four of the C’s come together even a small stone can have uncommon value. Contact One of our specialties here at South Charlotte Jewelry & Loan to learn more about the value of your Diamond.
